Aug 23, 2011 · I'm interested--what's it rated to carry (in weight) 17 pounds of DSLR and lens? Yes. The weight spec was downloaded from the Gitzo site: "Load Capacity 17.64 lb (8.00 kg)" I guess it would also depend if you mount a ball head and whatever it's capacity is. 17 pounds of camera and lens is more than I can imagine. Mar 30, 2016 · I've had a #3232 on my monopod for a long time and it takes way more than its "5 lb" rating. Here's a picture following the WImberley discussion on a Manfrotto CF 'pod. I've also used it with no effort with a 300 2.8. With the 500 4 is was a little more careful but the benefits were still great.

Purchased this tripod for my Canon 1D body set up and L lenses including the heavy 400 f/2.8 (now stolen, ouch). Some don't like the twist lock system but I do, it is much easier and safe then others I had in the past, you just have to twist very firmly the upper section first to allow the lower sections to unlock.
