Nov 09, 2014 · The root of this is Windows XP x86 is MBR only meaning that the limitation is to do with MBR. Disks exceeding 2TB must use GPT which extends the limit significantly, however Windows XP does not have this support currently. A 32 bit version of windows generally will only see the protective MBR on a GPT disk.

Jun 28, 2011 · Support for this is poor as of 2010 due to Windows requiring Extensible Firmware Interface additions to the BIOS to boot using GPT. It should be noted that this is the largest PARTITION. not the largest drive size, it will support the largest size available which is 3TB at this time, but it will not support this in a single partition.
