This post is in response to a project trying to get asterisk to connect to Google Voice after Google made the switch from XMPP to SIP. Bottom line is you can only connect to Google Voice via Google approved methods. AFAIK, that means using a Google app or a Polycom/Obihai device. Using any other method is "violating program policy."

This was possible because Google supported XMPP, which enabled connectivity to the Google Voice website without logging in. This solution worked perfectly and served me well for a year and a half. Unfortunately, Google has decided to end support for XMPP on May 15, 2014.
