Nov 18, 2004 · According to Apache's FAQ, "XmlBeans has a built in engine for very simple XPath expressions. For more advanced XPath expressions Jaxen engine can be used if xbean_xpath.jar is on the classpath. xbean_xpath.jar is available in build\private\lib by running 'ant xbean_xpath.jar'." But no matter what I do, I can't seem to get xbean_xpath to work.

In version 1, Jaxen (an XPath implementation) was used, but the integration with XMLBeans didn't provide support for namespaces and prefixes. The latest release builds on the XQuery implementation provided by Saxon version 8.1.1.

As menitioned earlier, as of the 2.2.0 release, XMLBeans has been updated to use Saxon-B version 8.6.1 for (untyped) XPath/XQuery support. Important! The Saxon DOM support (which XMLBeans uses) has been moved to a separate jar file - saxon8-dom.jar. Which means that now the jars that you need to have on the classpath for XPath/XQuery support are:
