Instead vdr-sxfe VDPAU OSD support should be fixed. It is not enabled currently because I can't test it. There's also OpenGL video driver in xine-lib ; maybe that could be extended to support OSD extent (video-resolution independent OSD).

Dec 17, 2008 · The Xine community has now come along, however, and created their own VDPAU support. This Xine VDPAU implementation doesn't depend upon ffmpeg and currently supports H.264 and MPEG streams with OSD (On-Screen Displays) and de-interlacing also working.

I just up to 0.99.12 from 0.99.11 and a "feature" (perhaps the developers consider it a "bug" and therefor "fixed it) was removed. I often open two or more xine players to play different streams at once.

Note: xine does not support locked/encrypted DVDs, as there seem to be legal problems in that area. At this point it is unclear what the legal implications of providing that functionality are. However, xine tries to support all features DVD or other enhanced media types offer.

May 17, 2010 · I have xine with x264,VC1 (mkv) support via VDPAU working on the command line. I can launch with 'DISPLAY=:0 xine -V vdpau -fg --no-logo filename' and it works on the MD.
