For dual quad core CPUs, VCPUs-max=8 The number of virtual CPUs at startup is the number of cores to assign to the VM. If your XenServer has dual quad core CPUs and you have set the cores-per-socket=4 and VCPUs-at-startup=8, then you can see eight CPUs in the Performance tab of Task Manager and two processors in the Computer Properties of the ...

Hardware. This wiki talks about running Xen on systems with an Allwinner SoC (often called sunxi) with virtualization capable cores (ARM Cortex-A7 or Cortex-A53).. This is well tested and supported on A20 SoCs (Cortex-A7 dual core, sun7i). Since v4.10-rc1 there is support for more SoCs, including arm64 capable chips (A64, H5).

XenServer enumerates physical CPUs in a depth-first manner. For a system with both hyperthreading and multiple cores, this would be all the hyperthreads on a given core, then all the cores on a given socket, and then all sockets. For example: On a two socket, dual-core, hyper threaded Xeon, the CPU orders is as follows:

tualization performance on server hardware, including multi-core measurements of two popular ARM and x86 hypervisors, KVM and Xen. We show how ARM hardware support for virtualization can enable much faster transitions between VMs and the hypervisor, a key hypervisor operation. However, current hypervisor designs, including both Type 1 hypervisors

Jun 23, 2010 · My current physical server is a dual (older) Xeon (not dual core, 2 CPUs), each @ 3.4Ghz. ... how to understand best performance? ... Since there will only be one resource-hogging VM on the host, with the secondaries being short-lived or only for support mechanisms (backup), I think the CPU scheduling overhead by Xen will be minimum compared to ...
