Decreasing the screen resolution decreases the screen size proportionally, leaving a black area around the sides (top bottom left right). And it's not just a black border (which is disturbing enough) but a large black area surrounding the center display on 800x600.

Aug 03, 2009 · Look on the monitor manufacturer's website for an XP driver. this is not a windows xp issue. the screen resolutions are the ones that your video card and monitor supports. apparently, your video card does not support 1600x900. that is rather wide for a widescreen. my widescreen max (for my video card) is 1440x900.

Feb 11, 2015 · Intermittently getting "Resolution Not Supported" message and black or purple screen. I turned off the "Native" settings on my DTV Genie Receiver and all seems well. All of the channels (esp older shows in 480i) are now filling the entire screen and when I check settings on TV and DTV, they all report as being 1080i.
