WinTV v8 is primarily for the Hauppauge WinTV-HVR-850, WinTV-HVR-950, Colossus (not Colossus 2), HD PVR model 1212, WinTV-HVR-1150, WinTV-HVR-1500 or WinTV-HVR-1600. WinTV v8.5 does not support these products. Activation for this version of WinTV v8 is done with your WinTV v7 CD-ROM or WinTV v8.5 Activation Code.

The xc5000 driver needed for this WinTV-HVR-950Q is already part of the latest Linux kernel (part of v4l-dvb drivers). Analog support was merged into the mainline v4l-dvb tree on March 18, 2009. Note: In the past, the HVR-950Q has had known issues with MythTV that prevent it from working.

Aug 31, 2008 · I was choosing between this Hauppauge WINTV HVR-950 or the Pinnacle PCTV HD Pro Stick. The PCTV seems to have more accessories as it includes an A/V adapter cable and a Mini remote control. It also seems as good as the WINTV HVR-950 in terms of performance, basing that opinion solely on Amazon and CompUSA reviews.3.2/5(157)
