Nov 26, 2012 · Hi, Thank you for posting your question in Microsoft Community. From your issue description, I understand that you are unable to change Windows XP to use AHCI disk mode rather than IDE mode for Dual boot.Please let me know if this is not the issue that you are facing.

Is it at all possible to install Windows XP on a Latitude D830 with the SATA controller set to "AHCI" in the BIOS? I've tried to load the drivers (R154200.exe downloaded from the Dell Support web site) using F6 but Windows Setup crashes each time.

Jul 29, 2013 · I'm building a PC for my friend. It will have Windows XP Pro SP3 x86 on one drive and Windows 7 x64 on another. Both these drives are going to be SATA, because that's what I have to use, along with an IDE DVD drive. The motherboard is an ASRockN68C-GS FX. XP will probably be thrown on and updated, with some kind of virus protection just in case.
