After the problem is resolved you can install sp37394 - Microsoft Windows XP SP3 Upgrade Utility for systems with AMD processors. Doing so, prevents the issue from occurring again and allows Service Pack 3 to be downloaded using Windows Updates.

Dec 16, 2008 · Hi, I recall reading when XP first came out that the optimal RAM for it was 2 GB and that more would actually slow it down. I am wondering if anyone has looked at this, and if running it on a system with 4 GB would cause it to perform less desirably than if the system only had 2 GB. Thanks! Actually Windows XP 32 bit can't use all 4GB for esoteric reasons. The actual amount used with 4GB of installed RAM is somewhat under 3.5GB.
