Dec 30, 2012 · Windows XP was the first version to require online activation NT and 2000 don't activate online, but Rick is correct it only effects updates and Tech Support. Microsoft official statement says "The end of Windows XP support will not affect activation, but rather security updates and phone/online technical support."
