Apr 14, 2014 · Surface with Windows RT and Windows RT 8.1 preview do not support Java. Microsoft requires all Windows RT applications to be approved and purchased in the Windows Store. Microsoft Windows 8 does not support plug-ins in the Start screen and therefore Java will not run in the Start screen. You will have to switch to the Desktop screen to run Java. Windows 8 is officially supported with the release of Java 7 Update 10. Java will only be supported in Desktop screen.

Your JavaFX application will run on a Windows tablet (e.g. Windows 8 tablet like a Surface Pro); it will not run on Windows RT. Supported JavaFX 2.x platforms are listed on Oracle's support site. Aug 28, 2012 · To my understanding, this is not possible with a windows 8 RT tablet - correct? So if I buy a windows 8 RT tablet, it will be impossible to me to have any communication with the public services and home banking in Denmark, unless they all make apps, which is not going to happen. Is there ANY way to install java on a windows 8 RT tablet?
