Dec 27, 2015 · I'm running a Firewire 410 on Windows 8 using the Windows 7 driver and am incredibly dissatisfied. The driver inexplicably stops working every hour or so, and Windows will no longer detect it even though it's still turned on, and still displays lights on the box for in/out signals.

The problem was with the Windows 10, 7, Windows 8 and 8.1 FireWire driver (a.k.a. the 1394 Driver) and the fix was a simple one. For Windows 7, just use the Legacy driver. Just follow the instructions below. If you are on Windows 10, or 8 or 8.1 you will need to download the Legacy driver from Microsoft.
