Jan 07, 2014 · Hi Mikkel, We have found many users complaining about the ad hoc networks not being shown in the wireless network list in Windows 8.1. As a work around, I would suggest you to use the Wireless hosted network and check if that helps you connect both the computers.

Starting with Windows 8.1, Microsoft reduced support for Adhoc Wifi networks. As a result, Windows 8.1 does not detect or display Adhoc networks in the list of available wireless networks (also known as the "wireless network picker").

Jul 13, 2014 · In Windows 7, Creating of Ad-Hoc network was very easy. You just have to go to Network and Sharing >> Create Ad-Hoc Network. That's it you're done. But as you know this functionality isn't available for Windows 8 or windows 8.1 and that's also doesn't mean that creating Ad-Hoc in Windows 8 and 8.1 is not possible.

Dec 29, 2012 · It looks like the Wi-Man tool uses the hostednetwork feature, which is infrastructure mode, not ad-hoc. Is there any solution for creating a proper ad-hoc network in Windows 8? There are also serious problems in connecting to an ad-hoc network and enabling tcp-ip. It looks like MS crippled ad-hoc networks in Win 8. What on earth for?
