Mar 30, 2013 · After getting a brand new media center PC with a nice integrated blu-ray drive, I am dismayed at the lack of support media center or other third party software has for blu-ray on a PC. Power DVD that comes with the blu-ray drive is shockingly awful and unfit for purpose. Placing a disc into the drive exits media center and loads Power DVD.

But no, MSFT's lack of Blu-Ray wasn't an oversight or a way to cheapen Windows 7. But rather a way to keep costs low, avoid riling competition and enhance an active 3rd-party developer ecosystem.
