For any USB connected UPS these OS do have some configuration for shutdown if you do not want to use the supported APC software options.

Unfortunately they don't make software for 2008 yet. They suggested that I go to Control Panel > Power Options and then use the native UPS support. However, that feature is gone in 2008.

Oct 14, 2008 · windows vista and 2008 no longer have serial UPS support.. with powerchute business edition, first of all you want to make sure you are using the correct cables - sua1500 requires 940-0024 or 940-1524 serial cable. you also have the option of USB with this.

Sep 01, 2016 · There was a UPS service in Win7's Control Panel but it isn't there in Win10. When I try to install APC's Powerchute Personal Edition, it tries to stop the native OS UPS service and since Win10 seems not to have such a service, the installation fails.

The battery icon in the right had corner indicates that Windows thinks it is on battery power. The problem is I installed APC Power Chute a while back, and it by default disables the Windows UPS service, and removes some functionality of the service so APC alone can manage it. Something obviously didn't go right, but I am not sure where to start.
