What is MDI in WPF? MDI stands for "Multiple Document Interface" (it does not stand for "Multiple Window Interface"). In Windows Applications there is a MDI Parent Form. But in the case of WPF there is no Parent window. You can implement MDI in two ways in WPF; they are: Tab control; Menu control

Dec 27, 2016 · I am creating a WPF application in C# and I need to have an MDI window with Menus and child windows. I have designed my child windows as WPF windows and not user controls. It seems WPF has more support for user controls for child windows and not normal WPF windows. And user controls have not title bars etc and doesn't look good for my app.

As WPF has no built-in MDI support I was looking around for alternatives for a rather large graphical work oriented application. The application will have a lot of different widgets, and for a lot of those the usable area will be different in size: there will ba a widget showing a 512*512 image, but also a widget with 3 buttons, another one showing a listbox, etc.
