The judge wouldn't directly say if someone should be taken off life support or not. There are times when a doctor has to pull the plug. These (I assume) don't happen to often. The person on life support could have a DNR that is discovered later, or (this was the case with my grandmother) the person signed a paper to have nothing exteneous done.
