I have contacted Western Digital Support and was referred to Tier Level 2 support. Tier level 2 then stated I should contact Acronis, as the coding to prohibit installation of Acronis unless a WD Drive is present was done by Acronis.

Aug 29, 2017 · The new Acronis 2018 software now allows you to do Mobile Backups to a NAS device instead of just a local PC. Synology and others provide NAS software support but Western Digital doesn’t. I know the WD people sometimes look at these forums. Are there any plans to add the support? I have a DL2100 and a DL4100 and would be interested in Acronis Mobile Backup to those devices.

Apr 14, 2019 · If you have done the image backup of the Windows using WD Edition Acronis it must be in the drive. In order to restore the backup you need to purchase the full version of Acronis. However, I would recommend you to contact WD Support for the boot issue with the drive from the link given below. support.wdc.com
