TL;DR - Don't expect to see native safari support until we get native hardware decoder support. And try explaining to Apple, or any manufacturer, why they should include vp8(webm) hardware decode support when it offers nothing over what we already have outside of a petty agenda.

Nov 22, 2014 · I have installed perian 1.3.2 and cannot view WebM videos. There is a web site which has mp4s and WebMs so I can only watch have the videos when using either Safari or Chromium. I think IE on Windows can view both. There has to be some missing step for viewing WebMs on Safari.

Jun 07, 2014 · Pretty sure webm support still isn't implemented. It was mentioned as something that iOS 8 didn't get in a thread on the forum. I am running iOS 8, though, and would happily test it out if you can link me to a webm file (I had a hard time finding one)!
