DLNA was created so that all the different devices, media players, TV, bluray players, game consoles, picture frames, mp3 players could share media in the home. Most of these devices do not support samba, logins, security or special file systems. So DLNA solves that problem.

I’m trying to broadcast internet (http) video/audio streams from my computer (Ubuntu, Mediatomb) to WD HD TV Live, but it is not successful. What mime-types does it support? Could somebody advice corresponding software and/or tutorial?

Oct 15, 2015 · Unfortunately Apple does not support uPnP. You will need to port forward ports on the Apple Airport Extreme to get the best performance. We have a generic KBA on how to do this, but I don’t think it has the Airport on it.

Aug 16, 2019 · Hi, I have tried to manually port forward my WD My Cloud with no luck. I have many other devices with successful port forwarding on my network. The only device that is not working is the My Cloud. The screenshots below should be able to describe my problem. I did also try other ports (because I realise Twonky server uses port 9000) but they too did not work.

I can use UPNP in both media servers to “find” the files being offered up for playback by those media clients. Both media servers use UPNP to do so. I can also use those two media servers in either simple network mode, thinking SAMBA, or in NFS mode and I can find the 2 WD Live’s I have and playback media files stored on those 2 drives.

Oct 15, 2015 · So when having watched a movie, streamed from my Qnap 419+, 8TB NAS (share mode, not Twonky), the WDTV Live just produces the spinning wheel. When returning to the menu I’m able to select an other movie, but he won’t play it. Just the wheel. I need to reboot the whole device in order to watch something else. Oct 14, 2015 · I am curious to know if anyone can confirm if the PACE 5268AC router supports or does not support UPNP (universal plug n play)? I suspect that it does not. I recently upgraded my Internet with AT&T and found my WD My Cloud (Model: WDBCTL0040HWT-NESN - the 4 TB one) to be useless. The router refuses to connect to the WD My Cloud device.
