If I connect to a network drive (exFAT) as opposed to connecting it via USB, will the media player work with it. I just put a ton of movies on the new WD wirless passport which ships as exFAT and per the advertisement of the media player, the drive is supposed to be compatible.

Aug 09, 2016 · When my WD 500GB stopped working I bought a 1TB Seagate Expansion Hard Drive that is on the NTFS system. After plugging it into my WD media player, the player does not recognise the Seagate format. I did try (on Windows 10 reformatting to exFAT (the only other option) and this also did not work. I do have the latest firmware.

Nov 29, 2012 · There might be boxes out there with ExFat but I haven't heard of any, you may want to reconsider formatting to NTFS instead that will give you many more options. There is one option I know of, Android based media players, Google licensed ExFAT from Microsoft so support for the filesystem is part of the Android OS.

Oct 15, 2015 · The WD live stream media player will not Recognised my drive. I might have to buy a WD drive so it is compabile with the media player. Totally not necessary. ANY working drive will work with the WD (if it works on a computer). I do not have WD drives connected to my WDTV, and they have worked perfectly for about three years.
