Jun 16, 2018 · That's all fine, but when I run Quake4, I go to setup the audio, and I can't select "Surround Sound" because it says, "Warning your sound card does not support OpenAL". Is there a fix for this, like an OpenAL to Dolby translator? I mean, if OpenAL is still a thing, how is it a top of the line gaming lap top doesn't support it? Thanks

Aug 15, 2007 · this is easiest if you own the game and are familiar with the menus, for now i will just leave it at this: the game is patched to the most recent(and probably last) version, and i have the latest drivers for my sound card. Prey has a similar EAX option you can enable, but the game does not give popping or missing audio, it works flawlessly.

Oct 28, 2012 · OpenAL Soft does not support the Vorbis and MP3 extensions, however these are considered deprecated. It does, though, support some of the newer extensions like AL_EXT_FLOAT32 and AL_EXT_MCFORMATS for multi-channel and floating-point formats, as well as ALC_EXT_EFX for environmental audio effects, and others.

Jan 20, 2013 · After the audio extensions are processed, OpenAL soft uses the old OpenAL32.dll to output audio to your sound card. The readme of OpenAL soft says that this sometimes does not work depending on how old OpenAL32.dll is and the status of the sound card drivers. The readme says that you can do the rename trick to work-around this.

Aug 20, 2016 · Do not Panic!, you probably installed or updated your GO-Pro or some sort of Audio Software,The new Go-Pro software and some Audio Software use and install the "AL OpenAL". I believe this sloppy programming , any company that uses a third party helper software should warn the user before installing it, but they don't.
