With LACP support on a vSphere Distributed Switch, you can connect ESXi hosts to physical switches by using dynamic link aggregation. You can create multiple link aggregation groups (LAGs) on a distributed switch to aggregate the bandwidth of physical NICs on ESXi hosts that are connected to LACP port channels.

The LACP support on a vSphere Distributed Switch 5.5 lets you connect ESXi hosts to physical switches by using dynamic link aggregation. You can create multiple link aggregation groups (LAGs) on a distributed switch to aggregate the bandwidth of physical NICs on ESXi hosts that are connected to LACP port channels.. Figure 1.

LAG/LACP in vSphere 6. LACP support is available since vSphere 5.1 and it helps connecting Esxi hosts to physical switches by using dynamic link aggregation. To aggregate the bandwidth of multiple physical NICs (that are connected to LACP port channels) on a host, LAG is created on vDS and use it to handle the traffic of distributed port groups.

Link Aggregation Control Protocol (LACP) on a vSphere distributed switch allows network devices to negotiate automatic bundling of links by sending LACP packets to a peer. However, there are some limitations when using LACP with a vSphere distributed switch.

Jun 07, 2017 · vSphere NIC teaming can work without the need of configure link aggregation on physical switches, but you will need to select the correct load balance algorithm, that should be different than the Route based on IP hash, which you already discovered that work only with link aggregation on physical switch side.

May 14, 2019 · ESXi 5.1, 5.5, 6.0 and 6.5 only support LACP on a distributed virtual switch. Configuring LACP on vSphere side. Because the configuration of LACP between a ESXi host and a network switch require configurations on both ends, we will explain the configuration in a chronological order which worked for our scenarios.

Link Aggregation Control Protocol (LACP) on a vSphere distributed switch provides a method to control the bundling of several physical ports together to form a single logical channel. LACP on a vSphere distributed switch allows network devices to negotiate automatic bundling of links by sending LACP packets to a peer.
