Jan 20, 2018 · Welcome to the forum bobal58 Looking at the vrd-mc5 it appears to be a standalone DVD recorder designed to be connected to Sony camcorders, have I got the correct device? If so then from what I have read online it looks to be difficult to connect any other makes of camcorder (and therefore I guess a PVR) to it.

I read through the manual for the Sony DVDirect external DVD drive model VRD-MC5 and it says it works with any Sony Handycam Digital8 camcorder. The Sony TRV260 camcorder is a Sony Handycam Digital8 camcorder so this DVD drive should work fine to copy your videos to a DVD.

May 22, 2010 · Hi, I have the Sony VRD-MC6 from Costco and I used it to record from my DirecTV DVR. My problem is that I can record a live broadast, but if I try to playback a previously recorded program from the DVR the signal is blocked. I haven't tried recording from a camcorder or VCR yet, but the quality of the DVD I did produce is just fine.
