Aug 16, 2006 · give the vmware-bdwrapper a try (search this forum). i have given up hope that vmware will change workstation/server to allow any blockdevice as a raw disk. the bdwrapper demonstrates, that using any blockdevice should be possible. still don`t know why vmware is so restrictive about this and seems to dislike everything besides /dev/sdX or /dev/hdX
