Dec 04, 2009 · There are USB to Firewire adapters. They work, but the camera may not be compatible. More specifically, the driver may not like the adapter. (i.e.: "can't find a Firewire port and device.") (edit: link to example FW-USB adapter, although I make no guarantees that it's compatible with the EOS.) The EOS 1D uses a CF card for storage.

I created a Virtual Machine on VMware, running MS Windows XP Professional and am running an MS Windows application in the MS Visual Studio 2005 Development Environment that needs to poll the PC for an IEEE-1394 FireWire Interface and it does not seem to be able to recognize that that the 1394 port actually exists.

Sep 29, 2009 · It isn't about Linux vs. Windows hosts. VMware Server does not support USB 2.0. If you need that, try Workstation 6. We don't also don't directly support Firewire (either 400 or 800) in any of our products (although if you only want to mount a Firewire disk, you can mount it on the host and then add a physical disk to the VM).

Aug 18, 2010 · I was able to repair with disk utilities using firewire target disk mode and still can't start up. While in target disk mode I also just as a test moved all Fusion related items to a folder. Then starting in verbose mode all VMware stuff was gone but the process still ground to a halt just at a different point.
