May 31, 2013 · Despite the fact that VMware claims Workstation 8 supports USB 3.0 devices, I can't get it to recognize my 1TB portable hard drive unless it's connected to a USB 2.0 port, if it's connected to a USB 3.0 port the guest OS fails to see the drive.

I did see in the Workstation 11 manual that it states on certain version of Linux and Windows 8 are supported for USB 3.0 (Same as Workstation 10).
