Apr 25, 2005 · I run VMware on a widescreen laptop (1280x800). I am running Windows XP on top of SUSE Linux 9.2. What I miss, compared to my desktop, is that I can't use Windows full-screen because VMware doesn't support the widescreen resolution.

Aug 26, 2013 · Recently, I found an old game that I wanted to play, it doesn't seem to work properly in windows 8, so I got the idea to try playing it in VMware, and just install my old windows XP I used before as a guest OS. I have a widescreen laptop with a default desktop resolution of 1366x768.

My laptop has i5-4310U CPU with HD graphics 4400 which has 128mb dedicated video memory and a 1600x900 screen. I went to the same problem using Linux Mint Cinnamon 17.3 under VMware Player 12.1. Reading more about open-vm-tools on the VMware KB, I found that using open-vm-tools-desktop package is the recommended way to work around this.. May 11, 2015 · Using the 5.0 beta 3 VB widescreen resolutions are never available even after setting the CustomVideoMode variables. I was hoping to switch from VMware Player 7 to VirtualBox because VMware has become unstable on Linux hosts, but the lack of widescreen resolutions would make using VB a non-sequitur.
