Feb 09, 2011 · Hi, Can anyone confirm that USB is or is not supported in ESX 4.1? I have a physical server which has a USB dongle that I'm looking to P2V. Do I still need a 3rd party hardware such as Anywhere USB?

VMware Workstation 4 provides a two-port USB 1.1 controller. You can use up to two USB devices in your virtual machine if both your host operating system and your guest operating system support USB. If your host computer supports USB 2.0 devices, you can use those devices in the virtual machine. Note: Windows NT and Linux kernels older than 2.2.17 do not support USB.

Mar 16, 2010 · 1. I would like confirm is USB devices are supported in ESXi 4. There conlicting information on some of the threads show that you can add usb controller but if you look on page 164 of the basic administration guide for esx 4 and esxi 4 it says you can add it but is not supported.
