    Nov 15, 2007 · While looking in the VM settings I saw on the advanced tab you can check "Support VMI Paravirtualization." Does this mean that VMware Server 2.0 supports the same sort of paravirtualization as Xen? Will any OS that's modified to run under Xen also now run under VMware Server in PV mode (e.g. SLES10, NW65SP7)?

    Hello, In my VMware Server 2.0 installation, the option "Support VMI Paravirtualization" is grayed out for all guests. I think that it should be available at least for my Ubuntu 8.04 / Ubuntu 8.10 guests, but it isn't.

    I have an VMWare ESX Server v3.5 with a few virtualized Debian Lenny VMs (kernel 2.6.22 with vmi) running Apache Tomcat 5.5. I enabled paravirtualization, and Disk IO increased from about 240MB/s to 380MB/s, making me a happy admin.
