Aug 08, 2014 · I am using VMware Player to run a virtual machine on my desktop, and have successfully created one from a VHD file that contains a system disk image. I now wish to add a data disk image that is a VHDX file - it is too large for a VHD image - but VMware Player does not recognise this. Does anyone know if VMware Player Plus will accept such an image?

Apr 13, 2016 · When you have a disk image in VHD or VHDX format and want to use it in VMware Workstation, you may find that VMware does not provide any support for these formats. There are some conversion tools on Internet, but you are not sure if they are safe to use.

My first thought was VMware converter, but that doesn’t support VHDX, ... 2012 R2, Hyper-V VM using VHDX to vmdk for VMware Workstation. Open StarWind V2V Converter, click Next. Specify the source disk image, click Next. In my case I’m converting a thin provisioned VHDX.
