Mar 11, 2010 · Error: This product can only be installed on a machine with cpu support for cmov, pae, tsc, and FXSAVE instructions. My co-workers installed it fine on their machines. Do you have any ideas?

V3.1 advised me that VMPlayer will only run on a CPU that supports the CMOV, PAE, TSC and FXSAVE instructions. Now as this laptop has a Centrino processor, which is marked in the literature as a compatible processor, and as VMPlayer worked quite happily on this machine in a previous incarnation. I am at a loss as to what the problem could be.

It is supposed to have AVX instruction support, and CPU-Z confirmed it. But when I check the fedora guest installed in vmware player, it does not show AVX flag in /proc/cpuinfo: Host is windows 7 SP1 64-bit, does support AVX. Guest is fedora 14 with kernel 2.6.35, does support AVX. vmware player is 3.1.4 build-385536
