Jun 30, 2005 · My host OS is Fedora Core 3 and Guest OS is Windows XP pro. When I enable ECP in the VMWARE bios I don't see the LPT1 port under Windows. The Software I am using requires parallel port type ECP. I posted a support request hopefully I will get a reply. I guess I could test the USB to parallel adapter on the workstation the software runs on now, but I have no guarantee it would work in ESXi if it did work on the workstation.

My 2 lines in modprobe.conf are: alias parport_lowlevel parport_pc. options parport_pc io=0x378 irq=7 dmesg doesn't show any errors. Why am I losing parallel port support on reboot? Thanks.

After a quick bit of hunting around it would appear that the serial and parallel port pass-through functionality is not yet enabled in VMware ESXi.
