Sep 24, 2010 · ESXi doesn't support RAID on software (fake / HostRAID) controllers like the ICH10R. The most you'll see are the individual drives even when the controller is set to RAID mode.

Oct 25, 2012 · It seems that the ICH10R raid controller is software based and needs to be supported by the OS of the system. I configured a raid 1 volume, but it won't become active since it isn't supported on the OS. Is there a way to get this working under ESXi 5 ?

May 16, 2010 · I have a server with a SuperMicro X8DTL motherboard that has an onboard ICH10R raid controller. The BIOS allows me to enable either the Intel or the Adaptec RAID software. I have enabled the Adaptec RAID software and configured a RAID 10 with 4 Seagate 500GB SATA drives. I then try to install VMWare ESXI 4.0 Update 1 via boot from CD.
