Aug 19, 2014 · Meaning Windows 7 DOES NOT natively support USB 3.0! If you have USB 3.0 working under Windows 7 then it's due to a 3rd party driver not installed by the Microsoft Windows 7 install DVD/ISO Image! Windows 8 on the other had does ship with in-box USB 3.0 xHCI driver and works under VMware Fusion 6.

May 10, 2014 · I use USB 3.0 HDD's in Windows 8 and some versions of Linux under VMware Fusion 6.x so it's supported if the Guest OS has in-box drivers and Windows 7 does not natively support USB 3.0 meaning Windows 7 did not ship with in-box USB 3.0 xHCI drivers.

Aug 24, 2014 · VMware says Fusion now supports USB 3 for guest environments but unfortunately only with Windows 8 or Windows Server 2012, but not with Windows 7 or Windows XP as there is no generic xHCI driver from Microsoft for these operating systems. So, VMware Fusion 6 now blocks all newly added USB 3.0 devices in some way.
