Dec 17, 2013 · As I understand it, Windows Server 2012 R2 is fully supported as a VM on ESXi 5.5 hosts but when I go to create a new VM the latest OS I see in the list is 2012.

May 16, 2014 · I had tried creating a basic Windows Server 2012 R2 machine with just VMware tools installed and eventually action center still complained about the VMCI Device Bus driver. I tried to uninstall/scan for hardware changes prior to posting, which is why I had attempted to fully uninstall/reinstall VMware tools.

I was Installing Windows Server 2012R2 on ESXi which is part of my lab cluster, and I was using the vSphere Windows client. As you know the Windows client is no longer developed by VMware so the latest innovations are not showing through this now legacy Windows client.

We have plan to purchase Windows Server 2012R2 Standard Version to build up our new system. In our blue print there are two physical DELL servers with VMware ESXi 5.5 installed, then 3 windows server 2012R2 virtual machines will be deployed on each physical server, that means total 6 windows server 2012 R2 for two physical servers.
