May 22, 2006 · I am running VMware Server on RedHat Linux Enterprise 4.0. I created a Virtual Machine on VMware, running MS Windows XP Professional and am running an MS Windows application in the MS Visual Studio 2005 Development Environment that needs to poll the PC for an IEEE-1394 FireWire Interface and it does not seem to be able to recognize that that the 1394 port actually exists.

Jan 19, 2008 · I am unable to get my system to see the ieee 1394 port? VMware Fusion (or any virtualization product at the present time) does not virtualize Firewire. You can access the contents of a Firewire Drive if you share it from within OS X or VMware Shared Folders.

The 1394 transport is available for use in Windows 10, version 1607 and earlier. It is not available in later versions of Windows.
