May 20, 2019 · As Windows writes and deletes data, it will eventually write to all logical areas of its disk, which causes the VHDX to grow to its full potential size. You can shut down the VM and try to compact the VHDX, but that does require free space IIRC. You should also do inside the VM and shrink the partition down as much as you reasonably can.
