I'am also having same problem. I guess VLC can't handle the response anymore because of some reason I don't understand but temporarily you can try this; 1- In the VLSub box select "Show config" option. 2- Change what to do with subtitles part "load and save" to "manual download" Now, it'll give you a link when you select a subtitle to download.
