I have had to get an updated driver from the network card vendor's web site since the ones from the computer manufacturer mostly doesn't support vlan tagging. Typically you would set your main data network to the native vlan and then tag your alternate network.

My understanding is that you need to setup a vlan at layer 2, normally it is set at the network card level. I would not need to setup an IP, it would use the physical switch to tag the vlan in question. I tried to change the network card but nothing work, The few network cards that utilize vlan are Intel Pro/1000 model CT, EF, ET PF and PT.
