Sep 06, 2018 · VirtualBox doesn't actually "see" monitors. It just comes up as two Windows you move around. Even if I had one monitor, I could set Virtualbox to use two and have two within the guest.

Sep 09, 2009 · I also prefer the virtualbox viewer over rdesktop so I can easly toggle on/off host keys and rdesktop doesn't allow me to automatically switch guest resolution when toggling to/from fullscreen. Would be nice if I the startvm would just open 2 different windows, but current multi-monitor solution isn't working out for me.

When in System -> Display & Monitor, clicking identify shows VBOX0 & VBOX1 on both virtual monitors (cloned). And the option to change monitors and such in the settings is disabled/grey'd out. It does show both monitors in the settings, but they are copies of each other. disabling one, disables both.
