Nov 12, 2012 · I used MediaInfo to get more information about the wav files. It turns out they need the ComverseInfosys G.723.1 A100 codec to play. It turns that the wav files were made with some Verint recording software the Impact 360 stuff. So I did some major searching with Google (not bing, sorry) and found where to get the Verint Multimedia Package.

I've got a repository of old calls from a now defunct Verint system that were encoded using Verints G729A codec. These can't be played without the required codec, or being converted. Yes FFMpeg can do this, but I was interested in tracking down the original Codec or Verint Converter application.
