METHODS: Composite RE-AIM indices that summarize impact and cost efficiency at the individual participant and setting levels are used to compare two different diabetes self-management support approaches. One study, the Diabetes Priority (DP) program, involved 886 diabetes patients from 30 primary care offices, and relied on usual clinical staff for program implementation.Cited by: 189

The RE-AIM (reach, effectiveness, adoption, implementation, maintenance) framework 1 was developed to enhance the impact of health promotion interventions by evaluating the dimensions considered most relevant to real-world implementation, such as the capacity to reach underserved populations and to be adopted within diverse settings. 2,3 Briefly, the reach dimension of the framework refers to the percentage and characteristics of individuals receiving the intervention; effectiveness …Cited by: 99

Mar 29, 2019 · One interesting application was the use of RE-AIM to help plan and evaluate interventions to reduce the use of coal-fired indoor cook stoves in Africa . In this article, we summarize the history of the RE-AIM framework, discusses current applications of RE-AIM for research and practice, and outline opportunities for future application.Cited by: 18

Answer: RE-AIM is not a theory, rather it is a framework and a set of criteria for planning and evaluating interventions that are intended to eventually be broadly implemented or widely adopted. As such, it is difficult to think of how one would “validate” RE-AIM or other approaches to evaluation such as the Precede-Proceed framework.
