With the inclusion of the ipw2200 driver and the update of the wireless extensions I get my dmesg flooded with these: eth0 (WE) : Driver using old /proc/net/wireless support, please fix driver ! Aug 01, 2010 · you are about as confused as you can get. as the net.mounts file says it is for mounting of remote shares, it has nothing to do with configuring your network devices. if you want wireless capability on Gen1, you need one of the wireless app.bins and then need to configure it using the net.config file. Wireless is not built into Gen1

I trying to check if any wireless interfaces are UP with a bash script. I think I can do this by checking the Status field in /proc/net/wireless for every interface. However, I tried to look for up reference to the possible values in that field and what they mean, and nothing seems to come up. Does anyone know?

Oct 25, 2012 · What if you use "iwconfig" like conky does and parse the values? iwconfig wlan0 grep -i quality. Link Quality=70/70 Signal level=-30 dBm. Or I think you have some info in /proc/net/wireless:

The answer lies within your driver and wireless card support. I have a similar Dell Latitude model but with an Intel(R) Centrino(R) Advanced-N 6200 AGN wireless card. After issuing the iwconfig command, the output also revealed something similar - the Noise parameter was missing (this was done while in connection to an access point, of course).
