Jun 18, 2013 · How do I get out of Steam Offline mode? ... In Finder, go to Users -> Your Account -> Library -> Application Support -> and then locate Registry.vdf and open it with TextEdit. In the Registry.vdf file, find the word "Offline" "1" and then replace 1 with 0 and save it. That's it

Another thing: when you reinstalled did you restart your Mac between uninstalling and reinstalling? I've had issues with some Steam service not getting terminated which causes problems. It's rare.
