XP Mode - Legacy device drivers (USB) I understand XP Mode, running on supported hardware, allows the XP "Guest" to utilize USB devices on the Win7 host. What I am hoping is that I can install a legacy (WinXP) USB device driver in the guest VM and have the legacy device (phone) work in the VM, without having a driver in the host, Win7 environment.

Western Digital's solution was to disable legacy USB option in BIOS Set up but that option could not be found, so they said I needed a BIOS upgrade. Called HP - as the external hard drive was not purchased from them they will not support any resolution attempt.

Dec 12, 2009 · I believe that the driver causes the bios to hang or stall. I did some research and found out that it might be due to the USB legacy support enabling. If I turn it off, my mouse should be able to work even after I restart my computer. So I'm just wondering if anyone could tell me how to get to the bios screen where it has enable/disable USB legacy.

I've also tried going into the Bios to see if the Legacy USB Support was enabled, but it's not listed anywhere in the bios. I reset the Bios settings to default, etc., but nothing is working.
