From what I read, this is normal for flash, that it doesnt use the system proxy settings. Whats confusing us is that the proxy logs show in some cases a direct connect request which fails, followed by a request for the same content via the proxy. I'm trying to explain to customers why we cant get certain content, and the above seems inconsistent.

They answer every question that has the word proxy in the same way.They are only interested in making money on ads or by using the proxy to hack your computer.

"Note: Prior to Flash 11 and AIR 3.0, the Proxy class was a member of the flash.utils package. It is now a top-level class." That seems to be the opposite of what's true. Proxy is now in flash.utils namespace and compiles properly when targetting Flash Player 11+.
