Yes, NG Firewall supports both tagged (802.1q) VLANs and untagged VLANs. Untagged VLANs are just separate networks on the same interface and can be handled by: Adding an alias to the appropriate interfaces (ie 192.168.15.1/24 to the Internal Aliases), effectively telling NG Firewall that this network range is local on this interface.

May 02, 2016 · The vendor wants remote access for support and updates but I am not comfortable with leaving such a big hole in or network. We have an Untangle UTM and I have two options as I see it. Either put the phone equipment (1 PC plus 2 Avaya devices) on a different interface or implement a VLAN.

These 802.1q tagged interfaces are custom “alias interfaces” that appear just like physical interfaces but only handle traffic with the appropriate 802.1q tag. Untangle routes all traffic according to its routing table. As such it is absolutely critical to configure your Untangle server with a complete routing table. If Untangle does not have a complete routing table, it will not be able to reach hosts behind Untangle and will not properly route return traffic back to them and they will be offline.
