Nov 07, 2011 · I have few files on NTFS partition and I cannot afford to move them, but I need to change the file permissions of those regularly. You need to put something like this in your /etc/fstab: /mnt/data /dev/hda5 ntfs defaults 0 0 I had this thing working on Slackware12, Fedora7 and Debian Etch. If that does not work then you might need to put: /mnt/data /dev/hda5 ntfs-3g defaults 0 0

What kernel version do you use? Does it use initrd? If your problem is what I mentioned (the driver at boot time), you have a few options: - Modify rour initrd image, if you use one, so that the driver is loaded before the mounts. - Recompile the kernel with ntfs support (NOT as a module).
