Nov 07, 2011 · I have few files on NTFS partition and I cannot afford to move them, but I need to change the file permissions of those regularly. Can anyone tell me, if there is any other linux distribution that has full support to NTFS file systems and will not create any such problem? Thanks in advance.

You need to put something like this in your /etc/fstab: /mnt/data /dev/hda5 ntfs defaults 0 0 I had this thing working on Slackware12, Fedora7 and Debian Etch. If that does not work then you might need to put: /mnt/data /dev/hda5 ntfs-3g defaults 0 0

What kernel version do you use? Does it use initrd? If your problem is what I mentioned (the driver at boot time), you have a few options: - Modify rour initrd image, if you use one, so that the driver is loaded before the mounts. - Recompile the kernel with ntfs support (NOT as a module).
